Love is Not Discouraging But Encouraging

This story tells of Zainuddin who is based on the Bugis-Mengasar mother and his father, Minangkabau. After his two parents died, Zainuddin was brought up by his guard who was called by Mamak.

After enlarging, Zainuddin planned to return to his father's land to find its origin. Although it was not approved by the Mamak, Zainuddin remained with his decision. So Zainuddin sailed to the land of his origin in Padang Panjang.

Although Zainuddin's arrival to Padang Panjang was achieved but his acceptance was not entirely. This is because Minangkabau customs are more concerned with women. Also look at Zainuddin's mother rather than Bugis descendants.

As a result, Zainuddin was somewhat disappointed by the acceptance of it by meat in Padang Panjang. However, his disappointment was buried by the presence of Hayati. A person with religious studies and good character. They started friends and finally Zainuddin said his love for Hayati. In the initial rank Hayati refused but was finally accepted because she could not refuse her love for Zainuddin.

The initial conflict occurred when Zainuddin and Hayati's love was known to Hayati's father. Hayati's father disagreed and asked Zainuddin to move out of Padang Panjang with Hayati also locked up at home. Finally Zainuddin got along too. He then decided to move to Batipuh. But before that between him and Hayati pledged to remain together even though their bodies were far away.

While in Batipuh each letter sent a letter until one time Hayati left for Batipuh to meet his best friend Khadijah. Arriving at Batipuh, Hayati was struck by a culture shock due to Khadijah's influence. Khadijah is seen as a somewhat urban character with kebaratan characteristics. Finally, Zainuddin and Hayati were found at a party. During the meeting Zainuddin was downplayed by Khadija by saying that Zainuddin was rather a relative. The words were later consumed by Khadijah.

Love Khadijah to Zainuddin even though it was still there but it was initially aroused especially when he heard the dakyah of Khadijah that the relationship of the male woman would only live with money. Beza with Zainuddin's principle which says that male and female relations will only be eternal with love.

Shortened to the story, Khadijah began to install his intention to make Hayati his brother-in-law, his wife to his brother Aziz. Aziz was also interested in Hayati's beauty. So the wooing group was sent to ask Hayati. In the time that Zainuddin also did not want to lose. He joined in proposing a marriage but the method was to use a letter.

Finally, the proposal chosen was Aziz's proposal. Some of the factors that caused Aziz to be chosen include financial, hereditary factors and the way Zainuddin conveyed his proposal which was seen as incompatible with Minangkabau customs. Hayati also just agreed not to fight to him when this transportation would prevail only with money.

Zainuddin was disappointed to cause his psychology and physiology to be unstable. The body began to shrink and he later became ill. At this time he lived with a woman and his son named Muluk. Long after that, Zainuddin tried to fight his feelings too. Besides that, Zainuddin received a word of enthusiasm rather than Muluk, although there was no religious principle, but his words gave Zainuddin an impression.

Zainuddin rose again. This time to pursue his dream of becoming an artist. Accompanied by Muluk, Zainuddin then moved to Jakarta. There Zainuddin succeeded in forging the name as a successful artist. Both in writing and in staging.

Zainuddin then once again moved to Surabaya to open his own company. In the same period Aziz and Hayati also moved to Jakarta. Shortened the story once more, Zainuddin reunited with Hayati and Aziz.

They then made good friends there, watching Zainuddin succeed in forging his name there. But Zainuddin's love for Hayati has never subsided but it is now useless, Zainuddin is more adept at guarding his feelings. Up to one time, Aziz exchanged his temperament back to his original temperament which was like going out with other women and gambling. Until one stage Aziz borrowed money from Zainuddin as a result of running out of money.

The culmination of this story was when Aziz killed himself because he was disappointed with himself because he failed to pay his responsibility to Hayati. The end of this story is also worth reading alone because if it is told here the address is not dramatic.
